Police shoot suspected drug dealer

The Arizona Republic

Nov. 27, 2002 12:00 AM

A police officer shot a suspected drug dealer Tuesday night while serving a central Phoenix search warrant.

It is unclear whether the suspect was armed at the time, but police said they found weapons inside the duplex in the 1500 block of North 14th Street.

The suspect, a 26-year-old Mexican national whose name was not released, was reported to be in "stable" condition at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. He is suspected of selling cocaine from the duplex, police said.

Eight officers arrived to serve the warrant. After entering through the front door, the lead officer shot the suspect, the department's 26th officer-involved shooting this year.
